Peter and Tanja from Typosition, spatium magazine, et al are organizing a brilliant exhibition of typeface specimen materials at the German National Library in Frankfurt, together with the Stiftung Buchkunst. Later in the year, the exhibition will travel to the National Library in Leipzig (Germany seems to have two national libraries).
Here is the low-down on the Frankfurt goings on (in German):
Vom 21. Juni bis 4. August werden wir gemeinsam mit der Stiftung Buchkunst in den Räumen der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek in Frankfurt am Main unter dem Titel »Scala, Bembo, Times und Dolly« über 100 historische und aktuelle Schriftmuster ausstellen. Eine Zeitreise durch 100 Jahre Schrift- und Technikgeschichte zeigt die gestalterische sowie produktionstechnische Vielfalt, die die Schönheit dieser Produktkataloge ausmacht.
Zur Ausstellungseröffnung am Donnerstag, dem 21. Juni, um 18.00 Uhr laden wir herzlich ein. Am 28. Juni ab 18.30 Uhr werden wir ausgewählte Exponate bei einem »Muster-Spaziergang« vorstellen.

Indeed, Germany has two national libraries due to German history. The library in Leipzig was founded in 1912, while after the Second World War the library of West-Germany was founded in Frankfurt/Main. After the reunion of Germany in 1990, there still exist two national libraries with the same collection but different focuses. Funny, I had always assumed that the older library was the one in Frankfurt, not Leipzig. I guess that shows how Frankfurt-centric or even West-German–oriented my thinking is… :-/
