France’s first Minister of Typography?

Since I can’t read French, I’m not quite sure what the text on this entry of Jean François Porchez’s blog means. But judging for the picture, the only conclusion I can jump to is that, should Nicolas Sarkozy be elected President of France this year, JFP will join the government as the typographic minister! After his term as ATypI president ends, of course…

Well, one can hope ;-)

    Reasonably accurate translation:

    Nicolas Sarkozy is making promises to everyone in France, and I’ve got a right to a promise of my own. I actually met him after a meeting a while ago in the 10th arrondissement in Paris. He seemed worn out from the meeting, but he agreed to carry out a dialogue with me, which was great. And I’ve got my own personal promise. It’s pretty straightforward – he offered to let me be the candidate rather than him. I’ll have to think about it and get back to him with an answer, but I’m not sure I’ll take him up on his offer. He’s making a lot of those lately, we’ve been noticing. I’m trying to take him at his word. He’s a pretty forceful guy.

    Minister of Typography, why not? But never in a governement with Nicolas Sarkozy, NEVER.

    Unfortunately, I must admit that I don’t know much about French politics. Maybe the right government will come along someday?
