Voices in my head, some confusion

It is a bit embarrassing to admit, but in my mind’s ear, Paul Luna and Paul Shaw have somehow merged together. Now, I do really know the difference between these two eminent men: Paul Luna is a typography professor at the University of Reading, and a master theorist and practician. Paul Shaw, on the other side of the Atlantic, is an author, calligrapher, letterer, teacher, typographer, and typeface designer. I have met both Pauls several times. Still, whenever I read any of Paul Shaw’s remarkable Blue Pencil blog posts, the voice inside my head is not Paul Shaw’s own, but rather Paul Luna’s. Thanks to the Internet, you may now hear the sonorous voices of Luna and Shaw for yourself. On River Valley TV, there is video of Paul Luna’s Integrating Latin and non–Latin text: a designer’s perspective talk from the 2007 St Bride Library/University of Reading Non-Latin typeface design conference. Meanwhile, AIGA New York has video of Paul Shaw moderating Navigating the Labyrinth: Unimark International and the New York City Subway System. Sorry, guys … no doubt that I will someday attribute Paul Hunt’s typefaces to my fictional typographic über-Paul.
