I just saw a 1964 movie, The Fall of the Roman Empire, which was on television here this afternoon. You should check it out, especially if you’ve seen Gladiator. Actually this film really is just Gladiator, without the CGI-effects, the brilliant musical score, and the touching Russell Crowe feelings-athon. It even had a little bit of inscriptional lettering inside a temple. The best part was Marcus Aurelius, who was played by Obi-Wan Kenobi—I mean Sir Alec Guinness!
